Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Deng Xiuyan was arrested on January 5th, 2011 and has been detained in the detention centre of Fengrun District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Her family and friends went to the Yangguanlin police station in Fengrun District on the morning of May 20th and requested her release. However, they were not successful and even worse, one of them, Mr. Zhang Lijun, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on the spot by Wang Xiuxin, the director of the police station in Yangguanlin town.
That afternoon, Ms. Deng’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ms. Zhang Weiyun, together with Ms. Zhang Baoxiang from the Wanghao village and Ms. Ye Suping from the Caizi village, took some food to the police station for Mr. Zhang Lijun. Yet all of them were arrested. That afternoon Wang Xiuxin and a young police officer forcefully arrested another practitioner, Ms. Jing Shuxiang, who is from Sannuhe village, and was outside the station. That evening, only Ms. Zhang Weiying was released and the other five practitioners were taken to the detention centre in Fengrun District.
In the early morning on June 4th, which was the 15th day and should have been the final day of their detention, the families of the above-mentioned five practitioners arrived at the detention centre and waited for their release. However, only Ms. Jing Shuxiang and Ms. Deng Xiuyan’s mother-in-law were released. The other three practitioners were sentenced to one year of forced labour and taken to the Kaiping Forced Labour Camp for further maltreatment. Ms. Deng Xiuyan remains incarcerated in the detention centre in Fengrun district.
